Our take on Eightcap
Verdict in Brief
Eightcap gets the basics right for active CFD trading. The platform choice is strong, the account structure is easy to understand and the $100 minimum deposit keeps the entry barrier reasonable. Traders can use MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, TradingView or TradeLocker, depending on the region.
The Standard account starts from 1.0 pips and has no separate forex commission. The Raw account starts from 0.0 pips and charges $3.50 per side per standard lot. That makes the Raw account the more natural choice for frequent traders who watch transaction costs closely.
The main catch is that Eightcap does not provide the same service worldwide. Leverage, compensation protection, instruments, payment methods and even platform access depend on the legal entity that opens the account. This matters more than the brand name on the website.

Can Eightcap Be Trusted?
Regulation and Licenses
Eightcap does not operate through a single global legal entity. The group uses separate legal entities for different regions:
- Australia: Eightcap Pty Ltd, ASIC, AFSL 391441.
- United Kingdom: Eightcap Group Ltd, FCA, FRN 921296. Company number 12448314 is a corporate registration number.
- European Union: Eightcap EU Ltd, CySEC license 246/14.
- Bahamas: Eightcap Global Limited, SCB license SIA-F220.
- Seychelles: Eightcap International Ltd, FSA license SD100.
- Mauritius: Eightcap International Trading, FSC license GB25204603.
For retail traders, the FCA, CySEC and ASIC entities generally come with tighter conduct rules than the offshore companies. Before depositing, the important details are the company name shown on the application form and in the client agreement. That is the entity responsible for the account.
Client Money Protection
Eightcap states that client funds are held separately from the money used to run the business. This reduces the risk that normal company expenses are paid from client balances.
Eligible United Kingdom retail clients can fall within the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Eligible clients of the Cyprus company can fall within the Investor Compensation Fund. These schemes have legal conditions and limits, and they do not automatically cover Australian or offshore accounts.
Compensation protection is also different from trading protection. It relates to broker failure, not a losing position.
Negative Balance Protection
Retail clients under the United Kingdom, European Union and Australian entities receive negative balance protection. In an extreme market move, this is designed to stop the account from ending with a debt to the broker.
Professional, wholesale and some offshore clients do not always receive the same safeguard. Moving to a higher leverage classification can therefore mean giving up more than a leverage cap. It can also affect margin rules and compensation eligibility.
Security and Company Track Record
Eightcap is privately owned, so it does not publish the same level of financial detail as a listed broker or a bank. That is worth noting, but it is balanced by regulation, segregated client money, identity checks and controls over who can fund or withdraw from an account.
The weakest point in the company's public history is a simple one: different materials refer to 2009 and 2015 as the founding dates. The current licenses matter far more than the marketing timeline, although the inconsistency should have been cleaned up.
Pricing and Trading Costs
Forex Spreads and Commissions
Eightcap's two main pricing models are straightforward. The Standard account builds the broker charge into the spread, which starts from 1.0 pips. The Raw account separates the spread from the commission. Spreads start from 0.0 pips, while the USD commission is $3.50 per side per standard lot, or $7 for opening and closing the trade.
The calculated weighted average spreads give a more realistic starting point than the minimums: 0.8 pips on EUR/USD, 1.0 pips on GBP/USD, 1.6 pips on gold and 0.5 index points on the S&P 500. Actual spreads still widen and narrow with market conditions. Share CFDs use separate regional commission schedules, so the forex account figures do not tell the full cost story.
Overnight Financing Charges
A trade left open after the daily cutoff can pick up an overnight financing charge. The amount changes with the instrument, direction, position size, and current rate. In the United Kingdom, the cutoff is 10:00 p.m. local time. Other entities commonly follow platform server time.
Hedging does not remove this cost. Both sides of a hedged position can attract financing, which can make a long-running hedge more expensive than expected.
Funding and Currency Conversion Costs
There is no internal charge for deposits or withdrawals. In practice, a transfer can still cost money. Banks, card providers, payment processors, crypto networks and currency conversion all sit outside the broker's own fee line.
International account currencies include AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, NZD, SGD and USD. European Union accounts list EUR, GBP and USD. Using the same currency for the payment method and trading account is the easiest way to avoid an unnecessary conversion.
Inactivity and Other Charges
No inactivity fee is charged. The costs to watch are the spread, Raw commission, share CFD commission, overnight financing, currency conversion and any third-party payment charge.
Accounts and Minimum Deposit
Account Options
Eightcap does not overwhelm clients with a long account menu. The main choice is between Standard and Raw. Both start at $100, allow trades from 0.01 lots and list a maximum forex trade size of 100 lots.
Standard is easier for someone who wants one visible spread and no separate forex commission. Raw is more useful for active traders because the spread and commission are shown separately.
A dedicated TradingView account is available in selected regions, with the minimum deposit, spreads and number of instruments varying by jurisdiction. Traders should check the local account page for the terms that apply to their region. For example, in the United Kingdom, the account requires a minimum deposit of £100, with spreads from 1.0 pips and more than 600 instruments.
Demo and Swap-Free Accounts
The free demo account is useful for learning the platform and checking whether a strategy behaves as expected. It is not a perfect copy of live trading. Virtual funds do not recreate slippage, thin liquidity or the pressure that comes with real losses.
Eightcap does not offer a swap-free Islamic account. Traders who need one should not assume that an exception will be made.
Products and Trading Conditions
Tradable Markets
Eightcap is built for CFD trading, not for long-term investing. The international and Australian ranges cover more than 800 CFDs across forex, cryptocurrencies, shares, commodities and indices. The United Kingdom company advertises more than 600 instruments, while the European Union range is smaller.
That is enough variety for most short-term traders. It is not a replacement for a broker that provides direct ownership of shares, exchange-traded funds, bonds or mutual funds. Anyone building a long-term portfolio will find the product range limiting.
Leverage and Margin Requirements
The leverage headline depends on who regulates the account. Retail clients under ASIC, the FCA and CySEC are generally limited to 1:30 on major forex. Shares and cryptocurrencies come with lower caps. Eligible professional, wholesale and offshore accounts can reach 1:500 on selected markets.
The core specification places the margin call at 80% and an automatic stop-out at 50%. In a fast market, the actual exit can happen below the displayed level.
Execution Quality and Trading Rules
Eightcap places few restrictions on common active-trading styles. Scalping, hedging, Expert Advisors and normal news trading are allowed.
That does not remove execution risk. Orders are filled at the best available market price, so slippage can be positive or negative when volatility jumps, liquidity falls, prices gap or the connection slows down.
Platforms and Trading Features
Supported Platforms
The platform lineup is the clearest reason to consider Eightcap. Clients can trade through MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, TradingView and TradeLocker, although the exact choice changes by region.
- MetaTrader 4 remains a familiar home for forex traders using Expert Advisors, custom indicators and more than 30 built-in indicators.
- MetaTrader 5 adds more timeframes, deeper market data and stronger multi-asset tools.
- TradingView suits traders who spend most of their time on charts. It has more than 15 chart types, community indicators and Pine Script.
- TradeLocker has a cleaner, more modern interface, more than 100 indicators and an integrated risk calculator.
No single platform is best for everyone. MetaTrader is the practical choice for Expert Advisors, while TradingView has the edge for visual analysis and chart-based order entry.
Charts, Research and Analysis
Most of the serious charting comes from the platforms rather than from a separate Eightcap research terminal. TradingView brings the stronger visual toolkit, while MetaTrader remains effective for indicators, templates and strategy testing.
Eightcap adds market commentary, technical updates, an economic calendar and the Trader Toolkit. The material is useful for planning short-term CFD trades. It is much thinner for company research, portfolio analysis or long-term investment decisions.
Automated and Copy Trading
Automated trading is well covered. MetaTrader handles Expert Advisors and backtesting, TradingView uses Pine Script, and Capitalise.ai gives traders a code-free way to build rules in supported regions.
Copy trading is less convincing. It depends on third-party systems rather than a clearly presented Eightcap network, so the quality, drawdown and fees need to be checked with the individual strategy provider.
Eightcap Embedded is aimed at fintech companies and business integrations. Retail traders should not read it as automatic access to a personal API, FIX connection or OpenAPI.
Learning Materials
The education section covers the basics without standing out. The Knowledge Hub, Trader Toolkit, platform guides, webinars and market commentary are useful when learning the software or reviewing a trading idea.
What is missing is a clear beginner path that moves from risk and order types to position sizing and strategy testing. A new trader can learn here, but the process requires more self-direction than it does at the strongest education-focused brokers.
Joining Eightcap
Registration and Identity Checks
The account opening process is typical for a regulated CFD broker. Applicants provide personal details, address information, financial background and trading experience. Verification then requires photo identification and recent proof of address.
The payment account must be in the client's name. Eightcap can also ask for source-of-funds evidence, especially when the deposit is large or the payment history needs clarification.
Approval Times
There is no fixed approval time. Clear documents with matching information usually move through the process faster. Blurred files, expired identification or inconsistent addresses can send the application for manual review.
Completing verification before making a large deposit is the safer sequence. It avoids having funds in the system while identity checks are still open.
Funding Your Account
Deposit and Withdrawal Methods
The funding range is broad, but the list changes by country and legal entity. International methods include Mastercard, Visa, Skrill, wire transfer, PayPal, Neteller, Interac, Pix, China Union Pay, PromptPay, Payment Asia, Bitcoin and Tether.
- Mastercard and Visa: $100 to $50,000 per deposit.
- PayPal: $100 to $10,000.
- Skrill and Neteller: $100 to $50,000.
- Supported cryptocurrencies: $100 to $50,000.
- Interac: $100 to $3,000.
- Pix: $100 to $10,000.
- China Union Pay: $450 to $10,000.
- PromptPay: $20 to $4,500.
There is no internal fee on the main international schedule. External banking, network and conversion costs can still apply. Withdrawals normally go back through the original funding method, which can be inconvenient after several payment methods have been used.
Processing Times
Deposits are usually the faster side of the process. Cards, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, supported cryptocurrencies and several local methods are processed instantly. Wire transfers take 1 to 5 business days.
International card, PayPal and wire withdrawals generally take 1 to 5 business days. Skrill and Neteller take 1 business day. Supported crypto can be instant after Eightcap finishes its checks and the network confirms the transaction. A finance review can add another 1 to 2 business days.

Help and Customer Service
Contact Options and Availability
Support is available 24 hours a day from Monday to Friday by live chat, email and telephone. The global email address is [email protected], and regional companies publish local contact details.
Live chat is the sensible first stop for a login or platform question. Email is better for a payment problem or complaint because it leaves a written record.
Response Speed and Service Quality
The 24/5 schedule leaves a weekend gap. Routine access questions should be easier to resolve than a withdrawal involving changed bank details, third-party funding or unfinished verification.
As with most brokers, service quality is likely to feel strongest when the account information is complete and the issue is simple. Complex payment cases need more patience because compliance staff can become involved.
Languages and Complaint Handling
Support and website content are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Bulgarian, Indonesian and Arabic.
A formal complaint should go to the company named in the client agreement. It should include the account number, dates, transaction references, supporting evidence and the result being requested. A clear timeline is more useful than a long emotional description.
How Eightcap Compares
Better Choice for New Traders
IG is generally the better option for beginners because its education program is more structured and easier to follow. Eightcap provides useful learning resources, but new traders may need to organize more of their education independently.
Better Choice for Lower Costs
UnitedPips appeals more to traders who prefer simple, commission-free pricing. Its fixed spreads start from 0.7 pips, while Eightcap's Raw account combines spreads from 0.0 pips with a commission of $3.50 per side per standard lot. The cheaper option depends on the currency pair and the spread available when the trade is placed.
Better Choice for Experienced Traders
Saxo is the better match for an experienced investor who wants options, futures, stocks, exchange-traded funds, bonds and advanced portfolio tools. Eightcap is narrower and easier to understand. Its focus is leveraged CFD trading through MetaTrader and TradingView.
Reasons to Choose Eightcap
- Raw pricing shows the spread and commission separately.
- Scalping, hedging and automated strategies are allowed.
- Several regulated entities serve different regions.
How We Reviewed Eightcap
Testing and Scoring Process
Every broker is assessed using the same review methodology and scoring framework. Applying consistent criteria across all reviews makes it easier to compare brokers on matters such as regulation, pricing, platforms, account conditions, market access, funding, and customer support. A full explanation of the process is available on our broker review methodology page.
Editorial and Commercial Disclosure
Our broker reviews are produced independently and do not constitute personal financial advice. The same methodology, scoring criteria, and editorial standards are applied to every broker, and no commercial relationships influence our evaluations.
Broker terms can change after publication. While we review and update broker information regularly, readers should still confirm current spreads, commissions, leverage limits, minimum deposits, promotions, payment methods, restricted jurisdictions, and client protection measures before opening or funding an account.
Final Assessment
Eightcap is at its best when used for what it is designed to do: active forex and CFD trading through strong third-party platforms. TradingView and MetaTrader are the main attraction, while the $100 minimum deposit and clearly stated Raw commission make the account easy to assess before funding it.
It is not as strong for complete beginners, long-term investors or traders who require a confirmed swap-free account. The different legal entities also mean that two Eightcap clients can receive different leverage, products and protections.
For an experienced CFD trader who checks the regional terms before opening the account, Eightcap is a solid choice. For a beginner or long-term investor, the alternatives in this review are a better fit.
